Rhenus Warehousing Solutions has officially launched one of Poland’s largest AutoStore installations at its logistics centre in Bolesławiec, strengthening its automated warehousing capabilities and expanding support for e-commerce operations.
The system, inaugurated on October 22, 2026, is the second-largest AutoStore installation within the Rhenus Group. It occupies 4,500 square metres inside the company’s 57,000-square-metre logistics facility.
Designed to improve storage efficiency and order fulfillment, the installation uses more than 100 autonomous robots operating across a grid-based storage system containing nearly 140,000 bins. It has the capacity to accommodate approximately 1.8 million product units and can handle more than 38,000 bin presentations per day.
The project forms part of Rhenus’ broader European warehouse automation strategy, aimed at supporting the growing operational requirements of e-commerce customers.
Automation strengthens warehouse operations
The installation was implemented by Element Logic, an automated warehouse solutions provider, following an eight-month implementation process.
Preparatory work began in late 2025, while the main installation phase took place between March and July 2026. The project also involved system testing and adaptations to the warehouse management system (WMS).
According to Rhenus, the new AutoStore system has already tripled the efficiency of the processes it supports, although the company did not provide further details on the measurement.
The installation also incorporates the largest bins available for the AutoStore system, allowing the facility to accommodate a broader range of products, including larger items.
“Implementation of the AutoStore system at our own facility in Bolesławiec marks another milestone in the development of the operations in Poland,” said Paweł Nowak, Country Manager, Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Poland.
He added that the technology would support higher operational efficiency and the continued development of automated warehouse logistics.
Supporting e-commerce growth in Europe
The investment builds on Rhenus’ experience with automated storage and order-picking technologies across its European network.
The company introduced its first AutoStore installation in the Netherlands in 2018 and has since expanded its use of automated warehousing solutions.
The Bolesławiec project is designed to improve picking speed and accuracy while increasing storage density and operational scalability.
“Our customers expect speed, flexibility and scalability. The AutoStore enables us to meet these expectations while creating a future-ready logistics operation that can continue to grow alongside our customers’ businesses,” said Ronny Sassen, CEO of Rhenus Contract Logistics.
Rhenus expects the installation to support the development of its warehousing activities in Poland while providing additional capacity to meet changing e-commerce fulfillment requirements.
