Stevens Medical Company Implements First AutoStore in Manitoba

The Stevens Company has expanded its Western Canadian operations with the opening of a new 44,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Winnipeg.

The new facility became fully operational on September 14, 2026, replacing the company’s previous 33,000 sq. ft. location and giving Stevens additional capacity to support growing demand across healthcare, medical and specialty laboratory markets.

The new operation includes approximately 42,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space and 2,000 sq. ft. of dedicated office space.

Inside the warehouse is Manitoba’s first AutoStore system.

The AutoStore installation occupies approximately 1,600 sq. ft. of the building and is being used to support faster fulfillment, improved order accuracy, increased throughput and higher storage density.

That relatively compact footprint is integrated into a much larger conventional warehouse operation, allowing Stevens to use automation where it provides the greatest value while maintaining traditional storage and handling areas throughout the balance of the facility.

The Winnipeg project is Stevens’ second AutoStore installation in Canada.

Its first AutoStore system was installed at the company’s Brampton, Ontario distribution centre and is already supporting daily order fulfillment operations there.

The addition of Winnipeg extends the company’s use of AutoStore from Ontario into Western Canada.

Stevens is also expanding its dedicated delivery fleet in Manitoba, increasing delivery frequency and service reliability throughout the province.

The new facility provides additional inventory capacity, broader product availability and improved turnaround times for customers across the region.

“This investment reflects Stevens' commitment to supporting our healthcare and manufacturing partners with greater reliability and scale,” said Jay Stevens, president of The Stevens Company. “By bringing AutoStore technology to Manitoba, we are ensuring our local customers receive unmatched service efficiency.”

The Winnipeg installation also represents another step in Stevens’ broader use of automation across its Canadian distribution network.

And Winnipeg will not be the last.

A third AutoStore system is already being planned for the 2027–28 timeframe.
