As part of an ongoing warehouse automation modernization project, a fleet of pre-owned Geek+ P800 ASRS robots is becoming available for purchase.
The Geek+ P800 is designed for goods-to-person automated storage and retrieval applications, where mobile robots travel underneath inventory racks, lift the racks and transport them directly to picking or replenishment workstations. Once the required activity is completed, the robots return the racks to the automated storage area.
This operating concept is very similar to the robotic goods-to-person technology used by Amazon, where its AMRs, known as Hercules drive units, perform the same fundamental function—moving beneath inventory pods, lifting them and transporting the pods to associates at goods-to-person picking stations.
Geek+ uses the P800 within its shelf-to-person goods-to-person solutions, bringing inventory directly to operators rather than requiring employees to walk through conventional shelving aisles to locate products.
Order-picking productivity rates can typically range from approximately 180 to 220 picks per hour (PPH) in a well-designed goods-to-person environment using modern WMS interface and control software.
This type of ASRS provides a flexible approach to warehouse automation and can be particularly attractive for operations looking to reduce picker travel, improve productivity and increase the amount of inventory that can be managed within an automated goods-to-person environment.
