Amazon’s Automated Pharmacy Kiosk Wins TIME Best Inventions of 2026
Amazon Pharmacy’s automated pharmacy kiosk has been named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026.
The kiosks are designed to dispense commonly prescribed medications directly at selected One Medical locations. They stock medications such as antibiotics and blood pressure drugs, while integrated video and audio allow patients to speak directly with a licensed pharmacist before receiving their prescription.
Controlled substances, most refrigerated medications and needles are not stocked.
The concept allows a patient to complete a medical appointment and receive prescribed medication within minutes, eliminating the need for a separate trip to a traditional pharmacy.
The kiosks are currently operating at selected One Medical locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with Amazon planning to expand the program.
